INFERTILITY AND IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
In Vitro fertilization (IVF) is a kind of assistive reproductive technology (ART) that not only resolves the issues of infertility but also the conception and birth of a child is possible. This technology demands its process and procedures to be carried out with delicacy and in a controlled laboratory environment. IVF is an advanced medical technology which enables an infertile female or infertile male, or both to get their underlying causes of infertility treated via medications and surgical procedures.IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
In the process of IVF, firstly the sperms from the
male partner are obtained and the eggs from the female partner are retrieved
out, and then the union of both the eggs and sperms is carried out in an IVF laboratory
under a controlled environment to carry out the process of fertilization. Once the
occurrence of the fertilization process is identified, the embryo transfer procedure
is carried out. The embryo is placed in the lining of the uterus and if implantation
occurs, it is considered as the beginning of pregnancy. The female partner
along with her newly conceived child is taken care of until the delivery of the IVF-supported baby.
MALE
INFERTILITY AND IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
Male partners with the symptoms of infertility may visit the IVF center for respective diagnosis and treatment. The major symptoms of male
infertility are related to erection and ejaculation issues, reduced sexual
desires, problems with testicles, breathing difficulty, a lesser amount of semen
production, etc. A medically infertile male partner becomes the foundation of a childless
couple as his female partner becomes unable to conceive a pregnancy. Initially, the treatment covers counseling and medication. However, surgery for the treatment
of testicles and sperm production is also carried out. IVF technology assists
in the increased production of testosterone hormones hence increasing the sperm
count and quality. In cases where pregnancy is still unachievable, fertilization
of eggs and sperm is carried out in the laboratory and then later placed within the
female reproductive system.
FEMALE
INFERTILITY AND IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
Female infertility is diagnosed when the symptoms are
relating to the irregular and insufficient menstrual period, skin and hair issues,
over or under weightage, chronic pelvic pains, vaginal pain during intercourse, etc. The female partner diagnosed with infertility may be diagnosed with one or
more underlying causes of infertility. Ovarian failure is a serious cause where
there is insufficient production of eggs in the ovulation period. IVF
treatment provides medications for increasing the amount of egg production
during the ovulation period. If pregnancy is still unobtainable naturally, then
IVF procedures collect the eggs from female ovaries and carry out their
fertilization with the sperms of her male partner in a laboratory.
The same collection and fertilization process is followed in IVF treatment in case of blockage or damage in uterine walls or fallopian
tubes. The tumors or blockages are surgically removed and the fertilized embryo
is implanted within the uterus lining. The IVF process closely monitors
the whole IVF procedure and the health of the mother and the conceived child. In either case, the IVF procedure follows
precise observation until the pregnancy is carried out to its full term.
The IVF process can be adopted by couples with either primary
infertility issues or secondary infertility disorders. Primary infertility is a
state of infertility where the couple is unable to conceive pregnancy even
after a yearlong struggle. Whereas secondary infertility is a case where a
couple has naturally conceived or delivered the child earlier but is now unable
to conceive pregnancy even after one year of unprotected sex.
Even in the case of Unexplained Infertility, the success
stories of IVF reveals that couples with unexplained infertility issues are
able to naturally conceive a child after getting treatment via medicines and
injections. However, the IVF surgical procedures of carrying out the
fertilization process in a laboratory has enabled couples to achieve pregnancy
and live birth of a child.
